Whole Foods

A Trip to the Market

I must admit...it has been years since I stepped foot inside a Whole Foods Market...today I broke my sabbatical and entered the uncharted land. The first thing I realized is that it was packed, super packed and there were plenty of stations where you could try the fresh foods they were making. I got swindled into 3.04 for (mango salsa) and it was worth it.

I then maneuvered my way over to the sweets section because I was in search of a fruit tart. I stood there looking at all kinds of cakes, tarts, muffins, cheesecakes and I said to myself this place is a wonderland...Super fresh, Food Lion, Shoppers, Giant, Safeway and all the other unworthy stores do not hold a candle, flicker or flame to Whole Foods. My eyes were caught in a daze caught up in the presentation of the (whole some) items. I picked up my sweets and as I slowly walked by the salad bar I noticed that everything looked good...I mean EVERYTHING. I witnessed a grown man smiling at his salad as he scooped food into a container...I walked on both sides of him to see if he had a bluetooth in...NO he didn't it’s the FOOD it makes you do things that you would never do in a regular grocery store.

Lastly I thought about the carts there...they have a baby cart and a huge cart...Most people were strolling around baby carts and they all looked happy to be in Whole Foods...Now in my opinion filling a huge cart will cost you about 250-350 per trip. The baby cart on the other hand you can fill with about 100-150 dollars worth of food. I've heard people make the statement (I only shop at Whole Foods) and I know their secret...(they starve) because you can only fill a baby cart with 2 weeks’ worth of food and since most people go shopping once a month most of the people surviving off baby carts must drink water by the gallons to simulate being full.

I love Whole Foods, some people say that it is overpriced and not worth the trip...and to those individuals I say this...when is the last time you went to a grocery store where EVERY-THANG (in my Katt Williams voice) looked perfect... (The correct answer is NEVER) and so for this near perfection and organic mumbo jumbo they must hit your pocket with a rocket launcher to continue to give customers greatness.

PS: My new goal is to make enough money to fill a huge cart...once a month...LOL

PSS: The pastries at Whole Foods made my 6 year old eat his cupcake like a well mannered adult...you can't tell me its not worth the prices they charge.

1 thing to consider

 Forethought:

I had a lengthly discussion with a friend the other day...she spoke about missing the old days. The pre-internet on your phone...the inability to upload your life in 3 seconds. At first I thought she's crazy..until I logged in today. I saw people uploading their inner most thoughts immaturities...insecurities...warnings...threats...anger...life moments....and putting people in their place!
I had to agree that life was simpler pre-social media. We cannot turn back...we can only moderate our behavior.

Questions: Before Facebook

  •  did you have to indirectly tell people on the internet to leave your significant other alone?
  • did you have to indirectly tell people to leave you the hell alone?
  • did you have to upload your life fears, tears, losses, victorys and umbilical cord?
  • did you have to indirectly talk badly about people?
In my opinion facebook can be used a few ways...
  • reconnect with old friends
  • make new friends/network
  • gain attention
  • entertain or create drama
  • get yourself in hotwater if your (married, engaged, taken) <--- does not apply to everyone
  • write an online book
  • find a hookup buddy
  • and last of all (mind your business)
Facebook ultimately allows people the opportunity to be who they want at that moment..whether it be the largest lie or the smallest truth you can recreate yourself everyday if you want to..it breeds passive aggressiveness..overall Facebook is for (entertainment) and it also breeds alot of laughs..
